That passion and demand is what keeps the door open to the possibility of it! Just maybe don't ask in my tweets about a painful situation at work.- Kevin Drew December 4, 2021 The final statement in the Tweet, where Drew mentions that this is "a painful situation at work" suggests a few things about the game's development. Treyarch Lead Game Designer, Kevin Drew, admitted as much on Twitter the other day, asking fans to continue requesting it, because the developers would love to make it. With Zombies Chronicles 2, the developer should aim to restore its original vision for certain maps, adding in the cut content that the community has been talking about for years.Zombies Chronicles 2 is clearly not in development, but could be on the table if more players fight for it. While remaking maps almost exactly as they were before worked well in the first Zombies Chronicles, Treyarch still snuck in some new Easter eggs. Ascension’s scrapped Chainsaw weapon could be restored, Mob of the Dead’s individual character quests could be added if the mobster crew was brought back, and so much more. Really, the sky is the limit for Treyarch when it comes to giving cut content a second chance. Since the real George Romero has died, shooting a zombified version would be in poor taste, so swapping out his model with this Zombie type that essentially worked the same way would be ideal. For example, if Call of the Dead were to return, the Butcher could be a replacement for George Romero. Zombies Chronicles 2 would surely bring back other maps, though, which would provide more opportunities to restore scrapped content. There is plenty of other scrapped content from TranZit that could be restored, such as the craftable lantern to ward off Denizens, the second bus route, the daytime version of the map, and scrapped areas like the motel. Considering how Treyarch was experimenting with limited time modes in Black Ops Cold War Zombies, it clearly still has interest in testing out other styles of play, so bringing back Race and Meat could be worthwhile. Another cut game mode was called Meat and would see players competing to see which team could hold on to a piece of meat for longer, with said meat attracting Zombies and making it harder to survive. Players would need to run through the map while dodging the undead, tossing Richtofen’s severed head through hoops to score points. TranZit also had a scrapped game mode in the form of Race that would be interesting to see in action. Beyond that, Diner could get its own Survival map as well. With a remake of TranZit, players could finally get a standalone version of Power Station, adding a bit of replayability. All of TranZit’s other points of interest received smaller, separate maps, with Bus Depot, Farm, and Town being round-based and Diner hosting the Turned game mode. If TranZit got remade, Treyarch could restore this cut content, which would include the Power Station Survival map. Not only did this result in an ugly map covered by fog, as it was the only way to get the open world-like play space to run properly, but some interesting content had to be cut as well. Since this map was held back by the technology of the PS3 and Xbox 360, Treyarch’s ambitious plans could not be realized. If a Zombies Chronicles 2 ever became a reality, the one map fans would be most interested to see again is TranZit. Over the years, dataminers have found some incredibly interesting cut content from the various CoD Zombies modes, and some of it would have been a lot of fun to experience. Over the years, there have been many Call of Duty Zombies maps released, and not all of the Easter eggs, modes, and weapons that Treyarch initially plan out make the cut. Well-hidden Easter eggs and side quests provide hours of content on each map, with complex stories told that span multiple games and cover everything from mythology to alternate dimensions. For those that have actually spent time with the mode, though, it is clear just how complex it really is. From the outside looking in, Call of Duty Zombies is a simple game mode that tasks players with surviving until the highest round possible.
