While labeled a carnival dancer she and her troupe are not limited to just one style but performing a number of styles of Brazilian dance - from traditional samba de roda movements of Bahia to the afro-influenced pulsing samba reggae rhythms of Pelorinho to the intoxicating carnival batucada styles of Rio de Janeiro - with its performances we take you on a whirlwind tour of the magnificent country that is Brazil bringing the great beauty, diversity and vibrancy of Brazilian culture to the United States. She has taught and held workshops on Samba and black Brazilian culture at University of Maryland, American University,Georgetown University, Howard University,Mamasita Dance Studio, Anacostia Museum, Bloombars, Catholic University, Mary Washington University, Shakti Studios, and Roda. ![]() Zezeh has been frequently interviewed and profiled in numerous newspapers including the Washington Times, Georgetowner, American Way, Street Sense, Gente, Noticias, Washington Hispanic, Gazette, New York Times, and Examiner among others. She has appeared on Brazilian television shows such as “Globo SPTV,” “Serginho Groisman Programa Livre no SBT.” In the United States, she has performed and been interviewed on Fox 5 News (Washington, DC), Afrofusion (Washington, DC), Telemundo (Washington, DC) and Channel 4 News (Baltimore, MD). She goes where the clients direct including performances at the Lincoln Theater, DC Dance Festival, African Museum of Art, National Zoo, Anacostia Museum, Gaylord Convention Center, Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, Fort McNair, Fort Meyer, Africare, American Art Museum, Frederick, MD's Brazil Day to name a few. She has taught and danced professionally for over 15 years in a number of countries. ![]() Originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, she is a former Carnival Queen of the Unidos do Peruche samba school located in Sao Paulo. Our dance group leader is a Washington, DC teacher, choreographer and professional performer of Brazilian samba. ![]()
